What you can do in your stay at Yvelines

Montfort l’Amaury 

At 35 minutes from Paris, the Saint - Laurent is a charming hotel *** located in the c œ heart of the medieval town of Montfort l'Amaury. This town, rich in its history, is characterized by a certain art of living. Every street, every monument, the houses they - themselves, have their own history. A souvenir of the past that can be discovered simply, through a stroll to discover the charming shops of Montfort.
This small medieval city with discret charm and authentic offers you differents historical monuments :

Walks, culture and relaxation

- Walks and hikes (departure of GR1)

The GR1 is a hiking trail that goes around Paris. It starts at the Porte Maillot in Paris. You can use the trail to go on either side of the Forest of Marly to the Forest of Rambouillet.
The trail crosses Feucherolles, Davron, Thiverval-Grignon and joins Neauphle the Old by zigzagging in the countryside by St Germain de la Grange. He joined Méré then Montfort l'Amaury to enter the forest of rambouillet.

 

-  By bike or rollerblading

Nearly 50km of bike paths crisscross the forest of Rambouillet, several kilometers through Montfort l’Amaury.
 
Holland’s Ponds see an enjoyable bike path through the woods between Montfort l’Amaury and Rambouillet. You can start it from the south of Montfort to go to the ponds in the direction of Perray in Yvelines.
 
A track east of the forest, Le Mesle connects to Poigny-la-Forêt, a distance of 11km.
 
The bike paths of the Rambouillet forest are wonderful  greenways. The main trail runs from Rambouillet to Montfort l'Amaury on a 20km trail leading to the forest.

-  Horse

The forest of Rambouillet is an ideal place to escape from the city on horseback and to find the pleasures of the nature.

Le Golf des Yvelines (La Queue-lez-Yvelines) at 7km offers a 9-hole course « Les Tileuls » and an 18-hole course « Les Chênes » on a  90 ha listed estate at the edge of the Rambouillet forest ; the courses were designed by the architect H.J. Baker.

Le Golf de la Vaucouleurs (Civry la Forêt) at 20km offers two 18-hole courses, « La Rivière » and « Les Vallons » on a 100 ha estate ; the courses were designed by the architect M.Gayon.

Family visit

The Yvelines are full of activities, visits or nice walks to do with family, with your children or grandchildren.
 

  • The zoological reserve of Thoiry, gives you the opportunity to discover many different species of animals presented in semi-freedom in large and small spaces. Come with the family to meet these living animals in the wilderness and maintaining natural behaviors. A magical visit that you are not ready to forget.

 

  •        La Queue-lez-Yvelines Butterfly Greenhouse, observe the fascinating ballet of the most beautiful butterflies in the world in a lush equatorial jungle.

 

  •        France Miniature in Elancourt, is the largest miniature park in Europe! On an immense map of France of 5 ha, 117 of the most beautiful monuments and site of our territory are represented and 130 reconstructed landscapes: villages, castles, ports, railway stations or a gigantic railway.

Châteaux des Yvelines

Dive into the history of France with the Châteaux des Yvelines.
 

  •        Château de Groussay at Montfort l'Amaury, built in 1815 by the Duchess of Charost, the daughter of Madame de Tourzel, governess of the children of King Louis XVI. Bought in 1938 by Charles de Beistegui, an inspired esthete, Groussay grew in 1952.
    The park of the castle is labeled "remarkable garden"

 

  •        Château de Rambouillet, 14th century fortified castle, former residence of the kings of France, became a presidential residence

 

  •        Chateau de Versailles, former residence of the kings of France, the Palace of Versailles is a true masterpiece of French Art of the 17th century

Longing to escape for your next weekend in the Yvelines ? Visit the Rambouillet  castle, its park, the queen’s diary farm, the thatched seashell cottage and the national sheep pen just 20 minutes from the hotel. Go discover the Rambouillet domanial forest either on foot or with a bicycle on the cycle track (GR1) and ride along the Hollande ponds in the heart of the forest just 2 minutes from the hotel. Golfers can play on the Yvelines golf course or the Vaucouleurs course.
